Birdwatchers
paradise. An important lowland marking
to migrating birds set in a serene headland
forest punctuated by a blue lagoon and
a beautiful beach. Located here is the
oldest lighthouse in the country, which
was built in 1817 by the Dutch. It is
also believed that Parameswara's grave
is located in this area.
Furthermore,
you can also find and enchanted and legendary
spots around the area such as the footprint
of Hang Tuah and a rock called 'Batu Gajah'.
It is said that Hang Tuah once made the
rock as his resting place. There is also
an unknown shrine not far from the lighthouse.
Besides,
the area also has been one of the places
to see the 'anak bulan' in conjunction
of determining the 1st Ramadan and Syawal
for the muslim's calendar as to set the
fasting month and "Hari Raya Aidilfitri."
