Under
the Constitution of Malaysia education
comes under the purview of the Federal
Government. The Minister of Education
heads the Ministry of Education, which
formulates national education policies.
The implementation of the National Education
Policy and all other decisions formulated
at national level are the responsibility
of the State Education Departments of
each state.
A
Director of Education heads each of the
State Education Departments and they are
answerable to the Director-General of
Education. Schools are run by principals/headmasters
who are answerable to their respective
Directors of Education.
To
streamline the administration of schools
in the State, the Melaka State Education
Department is divided into four main sectors.
Each sector is headed by a Sector Head.
The
four sectors are: -
-
The Academic Sector
-
The School Management Sector
-
The Human Resources Development Sector
-
The Education Service Management Sector
All
schools in the State have Parent-Teacher
Associations (PTA). The PTA serves as
a link between schools and the community
and involves the community in the education
of their children.
National Education
Philosophy
In
Malaysia education is a continuous effort
to develop individual potential in a general
and integrated manner in order to create
an intellectually, spiritually, physically
and emotionally strong individual who
believes in God.
This
effort it is hoped will produce citizens
who are knowledgeable, skilled, morally
strong and responsible. A citizenry with
these qualities will ensure the well being,
racial harmony and prosperity of the nation.
