Zoo
Melaka is located about 13km from Melaka
City. It is the second largest Zoo in
the country 54-arces with more than 1,200
animals of over 200 different species.
It is also the first Zoo in the region
to exhibit the rare and endangered Sumatran
Rhinoceros and Gaur.
The
Zoo was established in 1963. Since 1979,
the Department of Wildlife and National
Parks, Peninsular Malaysia took over the
management of the Zoo to enhance its operations
and upgrade its services for public's
benefit. Zoo Melaka is easily accessible
by public transportation via the city's
bus terminal.
A
must see for the family. It's fun, educational
and sensational. See the world's largest
cat. The tiger, as they roam and play
in their cages. There are not many more
Tigers left today in Malaysia. They may
be ferocious, but like a cat, they're
playful and want attention. Also take
a chance to ride an elephant and you soon
find out that you have a big gentle friend
here at Zoo Melaka.
You
can also take a photo with the Orang Utan,
the most intelligent and adorable primate.
Enjoy a thrilling horse ride, stroll through
the magnificent park. Touch and hold a
3-metre long python in your hands. Learn
more about Guinea Pigs, sheep, fishes
and birds as you enter Zoo Melaka's Pet
Corner. Zoo Melaka's Tram rides are great
for you and your children, all can enjoy
a breezy and easy ride around the Zoo
as the Trams take you on a guided tour.
